School Hearing and Vision clinics
Children with hearing and visual impairment are likely to have difficulty in acquiring age appropriate attention, listening, reading, writing, speech and/or language skills.
Timely screening for the early detection of eye and vision problems in children is vital to avoid lifelong visual impairment. Early detection provides the best opportunity for effective treatment and many studies have shown that the optimum age for vision screening is around 3.5 - 4 years as this is the age at which most children can reliably perform an accurate vision test.
Children who have mild, moderate or single sided hearing loss when put in acoustically challenging situation such as class room struggle to hear. It is also not uncommon for children to have predominantly high frequency hearing loss and children may have difficulty distinguishing consonants and may mis pronounce. Early detection and optimisation of hearing loss can avoid problems of inattention, speech and language impedement.
We are offering school screening test of hearing and vision at a small charge. The tests will be carried out by Optician and Audiologist trained to test children in your school.
