Consulting at Princess Margaret hopsital, Osborne street, Windsor.
My main responsibilities involve diagnosing and managing hearing loss in very young children to adolescents. I see at risk children and monitor their hearing.
I am the lead clinician in Cochlear Implant program at this hospital, this is one of the largest paediatric cochlear implant program in U.K and we have a team of 21 people from Multi-disciplinary background.
Special interest:
- Aetiological investigations of Hearing loss
- Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum
- Cochlear Implant
- Hearing assessment in difficult to test children
- Deaf-Blind children.
We have carried research into various aspects of benefits from cochlear implant and have developed assessment program for children with additional disabilities such as deafness and blindness.
I lecture on courses held at Institute of child health for MSc in Audiological Medicine, MRCPCH part 2 course, developmental examination of a child as well as FRCS Otolo course held at Institute of Otolaryngology. I lecture at Ear Foundation, Nottingham.
I am a member of Audiological Medicine teaching committee.
I am a member of Specialist training Committee and the Educational Supervisor for junior doctors in training in Audiological Medicine for North Thames Deanery.
Research
‘’HEARING LOSS AFTER MENINGOCOCCAL SEROGROUP B DISEASE: FINDINGS FROM A NATIONALCASE-CONTROL STUDY’’ due to be published
"Role of Sodium Thiosulphate in reducing oto-toxicity of Platinium based drugs". It is an international study and I am co-ordinating the Audiology protocol and will be centrally reviewing the Audiology data.
Experience in Medicolegal work:
I have been working as an expert witness since 1999 and my special interests include ear and hearing disorders after head injury and whiplash, oto-toxicity and noise induced hearing loss. I see clients of all ages.
I have also written reports on Medical Negligence cases and child abuse and non-accidental injuries to ears in very young children.
I have worked on defence team for the NHS trust.
